2018… It’s time to start fresh.
Whether you’re planning to improve your physical health, get more organized, or simply enjoy life to the fullest, New Year’s is a fantastic time to set lifestyle-changing goals.
One of the best New Year’s Resolutions you can have is to improve your financial health. We’ve created a list of some financial resolutions that are sure to make 2018 one of the best years yet.
Track Your Expenses
Start this month by documenting every penny you spend. It might sound tedious, but it doesn’t have to be. Use a budgeting app on your phone or carry a mini notebook and jot down how much that morning coffee was. Once you get the hang of it, start looking at the things that you are spending the most money on.
Cut Spending (Where You Can)
Now that you’ve been tracking your spending, look at ways you can cut back. Maybe you could brew that morning coffee at home to save a few bucks, or turn the heat down a little bit at night to save on the electricity bill. It’s different for everyone, and it doesn’t mean you have to cut out the things that are really important to you. But looking for ways to save a few dollars here and there can pay off majorly in the long run.
Create a Long-Term Plan
Speaking of the long run, how about making this the year that you lay out a financial plan for the long-term? You could look back on 2018 as the year you decided enough was enough and truly took control of your finances. How do you do this, you may ask? The answer is different for everyone. Creating a solid budget, improving your credit score, and taking control of your debt are three common places to start.
Tackle Your Debt
It’s been weighing on you for as long as you can remember. Now its time to do something about it. Start this year with a bang by making the decision to take control of your debt. Give us a call, we’d love nothing more than to help. Maybe, just maybe, by this time next year you can be free of debt and the stress that goes along with it.
Set Up an Emergency Fund
This year, as many have in the past, saw tragedy strike all over the United States and the world. Hurricanes and other natural disasters caused millions to either lose or see significant damage to their homes and other assets. Setting up an emergency fund helps you be assured that when the unexpected occurs, you are as prepared as you can possibly be.
