LEADING THE WAY THROUGH HOUSING COUNSELING
Credit Advisors Foundation receives 65% of Nebraska’s 2017 HUD Grants and projects a 40% increase in agency services.
Omaha, NE – July 7, 2017 –.The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced their latest round of housing counseling grants to 4 Nebraska organizations, totaling $211,129. Credit Advisors Foundation (CAF) received the greatest amount with $138,669, a 15% increase from last year.
Omaha HUD Office Director Earl Redrick says, “Kudos to our Nebraska Housing Counseling Partners and the amazing work they do equipping home buyers with imperative information and knowledge related to their pending or potential new purchase. More resources are always needed, but this does help our Nebraska residents.”
In a HUD press release Secretary Ben Carson said, “This is a smart investment in helping families find and keep their homes. Quite simply, knowledge is power. We know that armed with the information they need, those who receive counseling services are far more successful in buying, renting or avoiding foreclosure.”
“We are grateful for the increase in funding as our numbers are indicating we will see a 40% increase in demand for housing services this year.” says Credit Advisors Foundation’s President & CEO Sam Hohman. Through last year’s funding alone, CAF provided individual counseling to 507 households. 360 households received personalized budgets, which empowered 45 households to purchase their own home, and protected 137 households from defaulting on their mortgage. For the upcoming year, those numbers will only go up. “With the increase in HUD grant money, we are grateful to announce will be able to offer our comprehensive counseling services to over 180 new households in Nebraska,” said Hohman. CAF has more than a decade of experience working under HUD certification, and continues to increase its support based on the needs of the community.
